Those of you who are Game Of Thrones fans may have been following the new range of sporrans that I have been releasing each day this week...
If not, head on over to our Instagram page or visit the SHOP to check out what I've released so far. The Targaeryan inspired dragon scale sporran is my favourite to date!
Well, the title says it all really! Last week, after several nervous months of waiting, I got an email that confirmed I have a charity place in the 2018 London Marathon.
This is going to be my 3rd time running London, but it is also the most important to me for one main reason...
Last year, my boyfriend Jo crashed his car and acquired a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). This left him in an induced coma with a chunk of his skull removed to allow his brain to swell. His brain swelled to the point that if it had continued by another 2mm it would have been "unsurvivable" according to the neurosurgeon.
During the week he was in a coma and the 3 + months that he was in hospital undergoing neuro assessments, operations and various horrendous things, I had the charity Headway talking me through every step of the way. I was often on the phone to them in tears because I was so scared and had no idea what to expect from the process.
Thankfully he made an amazing recovery and we raised a lot of money for the hospital ICU and Neuro wards. But after all that Headway did for us, I wanted to say thank you to them personally.
So I have entered and been accepted for the 2018 London Marathon and have also entered the She Runs The Night Edinburgh 10k and the 15 mile Illuminator Run in October.
I have to raise a minimum of £1850 for the Marathon so I have set a goal of £2000 for all of the races combined. All money will be going to Headway as a thank you for their help.
If you have a spare few £ to spare between now and April, it would be hugely appreciated.

Anyone who is a fan of Game of Thrones will be wise to keep an eye out for our newest range of sporrans...coinciding with the release date (17th July GOT fans...) of season 7, I am releasing a very limited run of sporrans inspired by the series.
Without giving too much away, there will be pieces inspired by several of the great houses including Stark, Targaeryan and Baratheon...even the Night's Watch will be included.
We have also arranged it so that Rory McCann (The Hound), Emilia Clarke (Danaerys Targaeryan) and Kit Harington (Jon Snow) will be receiving a sporran to coincide with their relevant houses.
So watch this space and get saving...you could have the coolest sporran around very soon

Last night saw the 2nd of our taxidermy workshops and I had a great time seeing everyone learn a new skill.
The first workshop was held at Brewdog's Underdog in Aberdeen and was a huge success with 9 participants getting involved. Last night was held at Dogtap in Ellon, who very generously invited us out after hearing about the Underdog class. We had a fantastic space to work in and were so well looked after by the staff it felt like being in a hotel!
10 attendees came along and completed their guinea pig mounts and I can't wait to see the photos. Sadly I didn't have a camera with me but I saw a few iPhones being used so I'll keep my eyes peeled!
Since these two workshops have been so much fun, I would love to continue to offer classes around the country if people are interested.
I'm more than happy to travel if we can get a big enough group together and as long as the venue is happy with us taxidermying things, I'm more than happy to provide all equipment.
If you are keen on a class wherever you are, please share this post around your friends and family and we'll see if any venues are keen to accommodate us. Looking forward to meeting you all soon!
The Dapper Dead
Here at The Dapper Dead, I go through a lot of pieces of fur and leather. So much so that I have a huge box of offcuts that I always keep "just in case".
With that in mind, I decided it was time to put them to good use. And so these adorable sporran key rings were born.
They are made from the exact same material as their larger counterparts and they fit perfectly around the neck of mini whiskey bottles - they look amazing as wedding favours for your guests!
You can request any colour combination and for an extra £1 per keyring you can have them personalised with initials of your choice.
Check out the SHOP to purchase yours
The guys over at Brewdog have never been scared to embrace a bit of roadkill taxidermy - their animal bottle covers caused many a media frenzy when they came out - and so it seemed natural to consider asking them about hosting a taxidermy workshop at their Castlegate bar, Underdog, in Aberdeen.
The answer was a resounding YES PLEASE and so tickets went on sale - and sold out within 48 hours! That workshop will be held tomorrow so watch this space for photos of how it goes...
Thanks to that workshop being a success, the guys over a Dogtap in Ellon wanted in on the action too, so with that in mind, tickets are now available for the workshop out there on the 28th June. You can buy yours HERE.
If all goes well, I would love to take our taxidermy classes on tour around the UK so sign up to the mailing list and let me know where you'd like to see a class!
Are you getting married or attending a wedding in Scotland this summer?
If so, chances are you or your partner will be wearing a kilt and sporran. Here at the Dapper Dead we appreciate that not everyone wants a full mask sporran so you have several styles to choose from.
With that in mind, you also have a choice when it comes to your fur panel. The Dapper Dead only uses ethically sourced fur for our standard sporran selection, but we are also more than happy to create a sporran using materials provided by yourself.
This can include fur from coats handed down through the generations - most of the coats I use were inherited from Grannies or Great Grannies. It gives the groom (and the bride!) a chance to wear something that has sentimental meaning. We can make sporrans or handbags our of this fur - I have no ethical dilemma with fur that is vintage as it seems wasteful to throw it away.
If you're looking for a sporran or bag that would work for you or even as a gift for a loved one on their wedding, birthday, anniversary or graduation, give us a shout here and we can come up with an amazing heirloom that will last for years to come.
Prices start from as little as £100
Thanks to the overwhelming popularity of our class on 7th June, we have added a new date to our Taxidermy Workshop list. There will now be a Workshop held at 7pm on the 28th June at Dogtap in Ellon.
Tickets can be bought here - no entries on the door
